Donation Management platform Terms and Conditions

This Donation Management platform (the “Platform”) is owned and provided by Cancer Research UK, 2 Redman Place, London, E20 1JQ (“we”, “our” or “CRUK”) and allows users to change the amount, frequency and payment date of regular Direct Debit instructions set up to CRUK and view a timeline of projects that supporters' donations have funded. It cannot be used in connection with any other charity, or for any other charitable cause or purpose.

The use of the Platform is subject to the rules below, as well as our general Terms and Conditions that govern the use of any part of the CRUK website (together the “Platform Terms”). In the event of any conflict between them, the rules below shall take precedence.

The Platform is presently under development and is being made available to selected supporters only. This will enable us to see how supporters use the Platform and further develop the product. As such, CRUK reserves the right to improve, change, update or discontinue features of the Platform from time to time.

The Platform Terms may be amended from time to time, so you should check them regularly for any changes.

Signing up

  1. When you sign up to the Platform we will collect your name, address and e-mail address.  We will also ask you to confirm (i) the last four digits of the bank account your Direct Debit donation comes out of, or (ii) the amount of your Direct Debit donation.  We will use the details you provide to verify your identity and to check whether you have signed up for one of our other services.  

  2. If you already have a log in for another service, you will be able to log into the Platform using these details once you have successfully completed the verification.

  3. If you have not signed up for one of our other services, you will be asked to set up a password so that you can access the Platform in the future.

  4. You are responsible for keeping your user details, including your unique URL and password, safe and secure.  Please do not share your user details, unique URL or password with anyone else.   You must not allow anyone else to log into the Platform with your details as this will be a breach of the Platform Terms.  

  5. If you have any concerns that someone else has accessed the Platform using your user details, please contact us as soon as possible on

Changes to Donations

  1. When you make changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit donation on the Platform, we will send an advance notice confirming this change to the postal address which we have on file for you.  All other features of your donation will remain the same, including:

    1. any selections you made when originally setting up your donation for this to go to a specific cancer type or research area;

    2. the bank account details we have on file for you; and

    3. the Gift Aid status we have on file for you.

    For changes to any aspect of your donation which it is not possible to change using the Platform (including Gift Aid status), or for changes to donations by methods other than Direct Debit please call us on 0300 123 1861.

  1. We will endeavour to enact any changes or cancellations to your Direct Debit donations made on the Platform as soon as possible.  However we may not always be able to change or cancel a donation before a further payment is claimed at the previous Direct Debit amount or on the previous Direct Debit date.

  2. If you have asked us to change or cancel your Direct Debit via the Platform, you may also wish to make this change or cancellation with the bank that holds your Direct Debit account and confirm this with the bank, as this may help ensure that no further payments are taken.

  3. When you make changes to the frequency of your donation on the Platform, the whole of the donation amount specified will be claimed on the next available month to claim the donation.  After this initial donation is claimed, Cancer Research UK will wait the specified frequency period (a month, quarter or year) before claiming the next donation.

  4. Please note that charities (including CRUK) are only permitted to return donations in very limited circumstances e.g. where the donor lacks mental capacity. We therefore ask that you take care when making changes to your donation using the Platform, as we may be unable to provide any refund once your payment has been processed.

Donation Information

  1. Where a total amount donated is displayed on the Platform or in the email invite to sign up to the Platform, this is the sum of all Direct Debit donations we have on record for the supporter using the account.  Other donations, such as one off donations, Standing Orders and paid-in fundraising money, are not currently included in the total amount that is presented on the Platform.

  2. It is not possible to amend Standing Orders using the Platform. If you wish to amend a Standing Order, please contact the bank with whom you have the Standing Order.

Personal Data

  1. We collect and process personal information about you when you register for and use the Platform.  We use your personal information in order to provide you with the services you request on the Platform in accordance with the Platform Terms, and for the purpose of improving and further developing the Platform.  If you ask us to amend or cancel your Direct Debit via the Platform, we will share the personal information necessary to make this change with the bank with whom you have your Direct Debit.   All of your personal information will be collected and handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.


  1. Whilst we make every effort to ensure that the Platform is available at all times, circumstances outside of our control mean that we cannot guarantee that this will always be the case. Similarly, there may be occasions when we have to carry out maintenance or other work on the Platform which may affect its functionality, or we may have to suspend the Platform altogether, but we shall try and keep this to a minimum.
  2. In the event that any user breaches the Platform Terms, we reserve the right to close their online account and/or to prevent them from using the Platform in future.  Please note that any donations received will not be refunded in these circumstances.
  3. In the event that online donation management is no longer a service we wish to provide we reserve the right to remove the Platform with or without notice and to close any online accounts related to it.
