About Shine Night Walk London
From Waterloo to London Bridge, Shine Night Walk is your chance to light up London’s streets and support life-saving research. Starting and finishing in Battersea Park, you’ll walk past London's famous landmarks before ending with a finish line celebration.
Choose a distance to suit your ability. Walk solo and meet friends along the way, or sign up as a group and walk together.
With Shine Night Walk you can choose to fundraise for a cancer cause close to your heart, or simply where the need is greatest.

From Westminster Abbey to the London Eye, download your route map to discover where you’ll go and the landmarks you’ll pass.
10k route: Depending on your pace, this route will take between 1.5 - 3 hours
Half marathon route: Depending on your pace, this route will take between 4.5 - 7 hours
Full marathon route: Depending on your pace, this route will take between 9-14 hours
How your support makes a difference
Fund the research that matters to you
When you sign up to Shine Night Walk, you can pick which research area you want to support. From bowel cancer to children’s cancers, you choose which type of cancer you would like your funds to go to.
Over the last 40 years our work has helped double breast cancer survival, supported the development of radiotherapy and played a role in developing 8 of the world’s top 10 cancer drugs.
Nearly 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime*, but your fundraising can make a difference.
How fundraising helps London
London is an exciting hub of research activity and home to two of our research centres, the Convergence Science Centre and the City of London Centre. Research happening here includes:
- Understanding how lung cancer evolves to help personalise treatment.
- Using artificial intelligence to improve therapy for sarcoma.
- Trialling aspirin as a cancer treatment.
- Investigating how kidney cancers evolve.
- Finding the right treatment combination for prostate cancer.
Last year Shine Night Walk London raised an incredible £3,036,663 to support research like this.
We’re with you every step of the way
Fundraising support
We’re here to help you kickstart your fundraising and smash your target. We recommend a fundraising goal of £150 for 10k walkers and £260 for half and full marathon walkers, but no matter how much you raise, your fundraising powers our progress.
Training support
Shine Night Walk isn’t about being the first across the finish line, but it’s important to prepare for the walk. Whether you’re planning to power walk, stride or stroll, find out how long each distance will take and get your training plan.
Community support
Shine Night Walk is about all of us coming together to beat cancer. But you don’t need to wait until the walk! After signing up you’ll receive a link to join the official Shine Night Walk Facebook group, where you can meet fellow walkers and share support, fundraising ideas and training tips.
