Supporters of the Kids & Teens Star Awards
Together with our partners TK Maxx, we're very proud of our Kids & Teens Star Awards.
Some of the world's biggest stars from sport, TV and music have teamed up to support the Kids & Teens Star Awards and sign the certificates which will be sent to all the youngsters who receive an award.
“Every day, around 12 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK. I can’t think how scary that must be for them and their families. I’m so proud to support the Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens Star Awards, as every child diagnosed with cancer should be honoured. If I could use Nanny McPhee’s magical walking stick to stop anyone getting cancer, I would. However, I can only ask that we all raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens to help fund the best research to find new, better and kinder treatments for children and young people with cancer.”
“All children and young people diagnosed with cancer are stars – they’re so strong at such a young age. I’m honoured to be supporting the Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens Star Awards and want to help raise as much awareness and money as possible so we can find new, better and kinder treatments.”
“I’m proud to be supporting the Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens Star Awards this year to honour the incredible strength children and young people show in the face of a cancer diagnosis. We are still losing too many children to cancer, and some survivors have long-term side effects that can affect them for the rest of their lives. As a mum of two, I can’t imagine what it must be like. That’s why we need to do everything we can to fund more research to help beat children’s cancers.”
“I’ve been to the Star Awards Party before, and met so many amazing children and young people who have been affected by cancer. Their strength and spirit is inspiring, which is why I’m so proud to support the Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens Star Awards again this year. I want to help raise awareness and money to help find new, better and kinder treatments for children and young people with cancer.”
Phil Gallagher, from Mister Maker
“The strength these kids show when faced with a cancer diagnosis is remarkable, and that’s why I’m supporting the Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens Star Awards again this year. Their courage and resilience needs to be honoured, and the Star Awards are such a lovely way of doing that and showing them how special they are.”
Each year, we also hold a party to highlight the bravery of children diagnosed with cancer. We are not able to invite all Star nominees due to the number of nominations we receive, but 20 families from across the UK attended the 2018 event as special ambassadors representing all of our Stars.
Our corporate supporter TK Maxx
TK Maxx generously sponsors our Star Awards campaign, recognising the strength of children and young people across the UK who have been diagnosed with cancer.
TK Maxx has been supporting Cancer Research UK since 2004, and is the biggest corporate supporter of research into children’s cancers for the charity. Since the partnership began, TK Maxx has raised £32 million through stock and cash donations. Of that total, £28 million contributes to pioneering research into new, better and kinder treatments for children and young people with cancer, with a further £4 million supporting general cancer research.
Tom Bourton, from Cancer Research UK, said: "We are thrilled that TK Maxx is continuing to support the Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens Star Awards. TK Maxx generously donates a £50 TK Maxx voucher to every Star nominated, as well as supporting the annual Kids & Teens Star Awards Party, where Stars and their families are invited to a special day out with some very special guests. The award raises the spirits of children and their siblings during what can be a very difficult time for the whole family. We are extremely grateful to TK Maxx for their ongoing generosity and support for our pioneering research into beating children's cancers sooner."
