Working together for a greener, healthier future

ScottishPower and Cancer Research UK joined forces in 2012 with the aim of raising £5m over three years. Fast forward to today, and the partnership has raised over £30m! We have renewed our partnership for another three years, meaning that ScottishPower’s amazing employees, suppliers and customers will continue to help us fund our life-saving research until at least 31 March 2024. It also allows us to expand our partnership into exciting new areas.

ScottishPower generates 100% green electricity and is committed to playing a leading role in the fight against climate change, so we wanted our partnership to reflect our shared interest in a greener, healthier future. That’s why we’re excited to be using our partnership and joint communications to shine a light on the impact air pollution has on the development of cancer, including lung cancer in people who have never smoked.

The money raised by ScottishPower continues to be used where it is needed most and they remain an important sponsor for activity such as Race for Life, which will be returning to Glasgow in 2022!

To thank everyone who has supported the partnership over the years and to celebrate the incredible £30m raised milestone ScottishPower produced a film, featuring powerful messages from some of our team and a ScottishPower employee who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

We are so proud to continue partnering with ScottishPower, who support Cancer Research UK in so many ways, including through:

• Sponsorship – ScottishPower has sponsored Race for Life for 10 years, Shine Night Walk and Cancer Research UK’s Christmas carol concert in Glasgow. They are also an official Stand Up To Cancer partner.
• Employee engagement – ScottishPower employees get right behind our fundraising events, as well as taking part in some impressive challenges of their own. In return, we share important health information and deliver workshops to employees and suppliers on cancer prevention and early diagnosis.
• 'Help Beat Cancer' energy tariff – more than 375,000 customers have chosen the tariff where ScottishPower makes a donation to Cancer Research UK for every month that a customer remains on it. Not only does this raise funds for our vital research, but it also now delivers 100% renewable electricity.

We’re thrilled to have ScottishPower’s continued support for the next three years, and to be working together for a greener, healthier future.
