Shine Night Walk is your chance to light up Newcastle & Gateshead’s streets and support life-saving research.
Walk solo and meet friends along the way, or sign up as a group and walk together.

When you sign up to Shine Night Walk you can pick which research area you want to support, from bowel cancer to children’s cancers or simply where the need is greatest.
Over the last 40 years our work has helped double breast cancer survival, supported the development of radiotherapy and played a role in developing 8 of the world’s top 10 cancer drugs.

Cancer Research UK spent over £4m in Newcastle in 2022/23.
The CRUK Newcastle Centre delivers world-leading research that accelerates the transition of lab-based discovery to the clinic for the benefit of people affected by cancer.
Research happening right now in Newcastle includes:
- Creating a network to develop immunotherapy as a treatment for liver cancer.
- We’re improving treatment for children and young people with blood cancer.
- We’re uncovering the cell’s hidden genetic secrets to improve our understanding of children and young people’s cancers.
