You're in the right place. From fundraising tips and ideas to sponsorship forms, here you'll find everything you need to reach your Big Hike fundraising goal.
Fundraise as an individual
- Choose your Big Hike event, then start the entry process
- Set your fundraising target
- After payment, you'll get a link to your personal Big Hike Giving Page to help collect donations
- Check out the tips below to make the most of your Giving Page and start fundraising! You'll be hitting your target in no time.
Fundraise in a group
Set up a Team Page and invite your group members to link their pages. A Team Page lets everyone see what you're all up to, and the best part: Giving Pages within a team raise twice as much money as those not in a team!
Each person will still have their own fundraising target, but you can combine this total for your team goal.

Your fundraising target
Your entry fee covers the cost of putting on the event. It's your sponsorship that goes towards our life-saving research, which is why we ask each Big Hike participant to try and raise at least:
- Full marathon - £300
- Half marathon - £250
- 10k - £200

Set up your Strava or Fitbit account
Linking your Giving Page to Strava or Fitbit can triple your fundraising total! Strava and Fitbit are free platforms that allow you to track your training progress and share updates with family and friends. Follow these steps to connect Strava or Fitbit to your Giving Page:
- Go to your CRUK Giving Page
- Click on "connect to Strava" or "connect to Fitbit"
- Select the type of activity you'd like to track
- Save your settings and your activity will automatically begin appearing

Sponsorship form
The easiest way for people to donate to your Big Hike is with a Giving Page. However, if you prefer to raise money in person then use our handy sponsorship form and share it with your friends and family.
Fundraising poster
Get a head start on your fundraising with our free fundraising poster.
Simply download the poster for your chosen distance, print it out and ask friends and family to sponsor a mile/km of your Big Hike adventure. A copy will also be included in your fundraising pack.
£5 buys a box of 100 gloves, which keep our scientist's hands safe while they get hands-on with their experiments.
£95 buys a Wright-Giemsa cell staining kit, which our scientists use to distinguish between different types of blood cells.
£22 buys a microscope micrometer, which scientists use to measure the size of tumours and learn more about how they grow.
£200 helps fund a postdoc researcher - developing their skills in the lab under the supervision of experts scientists.
£50 buys special chemicals called restriction enzymes that work like molecular scissors to cut up the long strands of DNA in our cells.
£400 is the cost of running Cancer Chat for one day, helping thousands of people through very difficult times.
