Imagine a world where cancer was no longer a threat to our lives and wellbeing. Our vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
We're determined to dramatically increase the number of people surviving cancer within the next 20 years. Our panel of experts have devised a far-reaching strategy to achieve it, with your help.
What progress has been made?
We've already come a long way. In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived. Over the past 40 years, that number has doubled and now half suvive the disease for at last 10 years and live beyond cancer. But we have much further to go.
The next step is to accelerate our progress and see 3 in 4 people with cancer surviving the disease by 2034.
How we will save more lives
We want survival in the UK to be amongst the best in the world. .To do that, we have devised a strategy that focuses on the four key areas:
- PREVENT - Reduce people's risk of developing cancer
- DIAGNOSE - Diagnose more cancers early
- TREAT - Develop new cancer treatments
- OPTIMISE - Make treatments more effective and kinder
