Third Party Event Rules
These rules apply to third party sports events (each, an “Event”) where you purchase your Event place:
- from the Event organiser and choose to fundraise for Cancer Research UK (“CRUK”) (“Own Place); or
- through CRUK and fundraise for CRUK (“Charity Place” or “Guaranteed Place”).
By registering for an Event, you agree to comply with the following terms:
Own Place and Charity Place participants
- When taking part in an Event, we ask that you avoid behaving in any way which may cause offence or damage the reputation of CRUK, for example by using aggressive or abusive language, or by behaving in a way which may cause injury or harm to other participants and/or spectators. This also includes refraining from smoking tobacco products or e-cigarettes during or around the Event.
- You understand that any products distributed by CRUK at the Event are subject to availability and may be withdrawn or substituted if necessary.
- Please note that all monies that you raise in connection with the Event are held on trust for CRUK, and therefore you have a legal responsibility to ensure that all sponsorship monies/donations received in connection with an Event are paid to us. We ask that you do this as soon as possible, but in any event within four weeks of the date of the Event. Further information about getting these funds to us can be found in the “Pay in your money” section of the CRUK website.
- You confirm that you are happy for any footage or photographs taken during your participation in the Event to be used by: CRUK to publicise the charity generally, including but not limited to television, advertising, marketing materials and other documents that may be made available to the public; and our commercial partners to publicise their involvement and/or association with the Event.
- You understand that CRUK may distribute images of participants to those providing media coverage of the Event and consent to your images being passed to them and being published in any media reporting details of the Event.
- CRUK is not responsible for the organisation or management of the Event, and shall not be liable for any loss or damage that you may suffer as a result of taking part in, or in connection with, the Event.
- You agree to the general CRUK terms and conditions.
Charity Place participants
- All entry fees for Charity Places are non-refundable unless your application is unsuccessful, or your application is successful, but the Event is subsequently cancelled.
- CRUK only has a limited number of places for each Event, so no guarantees can be given that your application will be successful. We also reserve the right to refuse any application at our absolute discretion, without providing reasons for doing so.
- If your application is successful, we will ensure that your place is reserved for that Event, but you must still register with the Event organiser to confirm your place. If you fail to do so, you may lose your place and will not be entitled to a refund for any fee you paid for the place.
- If your application is successful you must also sign up to, and comply with, the Event organiser’s Event rules and/or terms and conditions. Please read these carefully, as they will set out the Event organiser’s obligations and liabilities to you and vice versa.
- If you are granted a Charity Place, please note this place is non-transferable. Any attempt to transfer your place may result in your place being lost, and you will not be entitled to a refund for any fees paid for that place.
- Each Charity Place at an Event represents an important and valuable source of fundraising for us. As we have made an investment to be able to offer places at Events, we therefore ask each applicant to pledge to raise a minimum level of sponsorship.
