Nigel, Race for Life volunteer

Find a volunteer role

Nigel volunteered with Race for Life about 6 years ago when a member of his Land Rover club, Fred, talked about getting involved and explained how others could help too.

Nigel had heard about Race for Life on the radio and TV. Hearing about Fred’s volunteering experience made him even more interested to get involved.

What he does

Nigel is a Race for Life volunteer veteran. He has been volunteering for so many years, he can’t remember the exact number of events he’s supported!

He has taken on lots roles, from early morning set up, transporting equipment around the course and being a back marker on the course route.

Nigel’s volunteering highlights

"All of us are touched by someone with cancer so if I can play a small part in the fight against cancer, it will be worth it" he says.

"Knowing you have helped to make the event a success is really fulfilling, and you are always made welcome by the Cancer Research UK team. Also, I still have my 4x4 vehicle and am able to offer this to help transport people and equipment around the site!"
