Real lives, real impact

Backing the leaders who will shape the future

Marah Alassaf’s engineering-led approach to breast cancer detection has the potential to make screening more accessible for thousands of women. By supporting early-career researchers like Marah, we’re not just funding projects; we’re building a generation of leaders who will redefine what’s possible in beating cancer.

Meet the supporter helping to drive entrepreneurial philanthropy

Darren Redmayne brings 30 years of business-building experience to a mission close to his heart: turning lab breakthroughs into tests and treatments for people with cancer. His entrepreneurial approach helped us create the Cancer Impact Club - a unique community of private equity, venture capital and business leaders who support our Seed Fund through philanthropy and networks, driving early‑stage cancer innovation.

Building a future with less cancer: Fearne’s Story

Fearne was four when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). After six weeks in hospital she joined the UK arm of our ALLTogether‑1 trial, which is discovering if children and young people with ALL can be treated more successfully and with fewer side effects by tailoring chemotherapy to personal risk factors. Fearne finished treatment last year and received a Cancer Research UK for Children & Young People Star Award for her courage. Her story reminds us of the hope research can bring.

A lifetime of support

There is no reward greater than knowing my donations are helping to beat cancer. To see the progress and know I’ve played a part is hugely rewarding. Cancer research is about hope – hope for families today and for future generations. I believe that every gift, large or small, brings us closer to a world where cancer no longer casts a shadow.

- Gervase Forster, long-standing supporter of Cancer Research UK.
