Over £40 million raised for Cancer Research UK
Race for Life and Stand Up To Cancer sponsorship, Help Beat Cancer energy tariff and supporting lung cancer research
ScottishPower and Cancer Research UK joined forces in 2012 with the aim of raising £5m over three years. Over a decade later, the renewable energy company has now raised over £40m for life saving cancer research! This incredible amount has been raised in various ways, from the successful Help Beat Cancer energy tariff to its sponsorship of Race for Life and Stand Up To Cancer, as well as the passionate fundraising of ScottishPower’s employees and suppliers.
To celebrate reaching their £40m milestone, ScottishPower produced a special film which shows how together with their customers and employees, they have managed to reach this impressive amount.
The money raised by ScottishPower continues to be used where it is needed most, but in November 2024 we were pleased to announce their support of Cancer Research UK’s Lung Cancer Centre of Excellence (LCCE) with a commitment of up to £4m across the next 5 years. This commitment is a continuation of ScottishPower’s support for our efforts to tackle lung cancer after their support of the TOPICAL study - a project which helped scientists better understand the link between air pollution and lung cancer in people who have never smoked.
We are delighted to have ScottishPower by our side and are excited for what the future holds as we continue to work together to help beat cancer.
Since the start of our partnership in 2012, ScottishPower has proudly sponsored Race for Life and our Stand Up To Cancer campaign. Both employees and customers are encouraged to get involved by participate in events, volunteering, and raising vital funds.
ScottishPower's Help Beat Cancer tariff supports Cancer Research UK by ScottishPower making a donating to CRUK for every month a customer remains on the tariff. This has raised millions over the year, thanks to hundreds of customers signing up. ScottishPower also promotes cancer prevention by sharing information with both customers and employees.
While money raised by ScottishPower is directed to where it is most needed, in November 2024, ScottishPower committed up to £4 million over the next five years to support Cancer Research UK’s Lung Cancer Centre of Excellence (LCCE). This builds on their previous support of the TOPICAL study, which advanced understanding of the link between air pollution and the development of lung cancer in people who have never smoked.
