£50m raised of which over £46m supports research into children’s and young people’s cancers
Give Up Clothes for Good clothing collection campaign and Star Awards sponsorship
Over 21 years, our incredible partnership with TK Maxx raised over £50m for Cancer Research UK, with more than £46m of this total supporting Cancer Research UK for Children & Young People. This makes TK Maxx our largest corporate supporter in this area of our work, helping more children and young people with cancer live better lives through more effective and less toxic treatments.
During the partnership, TK Maxx supported several research projects focused on children’s and young people’s cancers and received awards in recognition of the partnership’s achievements:
• 2014: To mark the partnership’s 10th anniversary, TK Maxx fully funded the UK arm of an international clinical trial to improve diagnosis and treatment for children with ependymoma, a rare brain tumour.
• 2019: In celebration of 15 years, TK Maxx committed to the Cancer Research UK Children’s Brain Tumour Centre of Excellence. That year, the partnership also received the Retail Systems Award and the Charity Times Award for Corporate National Partnership of the Year with a Retailer.
• 2020: TK Maxx again won the Charity Times Award, as well as the Better Society Award for Partnership with a Children’s Charity.
• 2022: TK Maxx, was honoured with the Better Society Award for Partnership with a Children’s Charity.
"We are incredibly proud of our 21-year partnership with Cancer Research UK. Our associates and customers have shown amazing commitment over the years, raising £50m for this fantastic charity. Supporting communities by helping vulnerable families and young children is at the heart of TJX’s mission."
- Jo Murphy, Vice President for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at TJX Europe
During the partnership, TK Maxx customers and associates donated over two million bags of clothes, accessories and homeware to sell in our shops through the Give Up Clothes For Good campaign. This helped us raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK for Children & Young People. TK Maxx also raised funds through sales of charity merchandise and customer donation initiatives.
These awards celebrate the courage and bravery of children living with cancer. In 2025-26, the TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation will continue to support the awards by donating £50 TK Maxx gift cards which are sent out with a trophy, t-shirt and certificate to eligible children and their siblings. The awards are in their 23rd year and more than 9,000 have been sent to families across the UK.
