About the event

The Rebel Ball is a celebratory gala dinner in honour of Dame Deborah James's legacy, bringing supporters together to raise funds for the  Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK.

The event gives supporters a new way to donate, while celebrating what would have been Deborah's 45th birthday.

About Dame Deborah James

In December 2016, aged 35, Dame Deborah James was diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer. Her instinct was to speak out - raising awareness about cancer and funds for research. In May 2022, Deborah announced that she was stopping treatment to receive palliative care at home with her family. Together, they set up the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK – to support causes she cared about and give more people more time with the people they love.    The Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK funds cutting-edge research into early detection and personalised medicine and raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer.
