Referral to a specialist

There are guidelines for GPs to help them decide who needs to see a specialist for suspected liver cancer.

Screening

There is no national screening programme for primary liver cancer in the UK. You might have regular checks if you are at high risk of developing it.

Tests to diagnose

Read about the tests you might have to find out the cause of your symptoms, including blood tests, scans and biopsy.

Tests to stage
