Make a Difference in Your Community!

Cancer Research UK is calling on passionate, organised, and community-minded individuals to help Turn Chelmsford Pink – a new campaign where local businesses and community groups go pink together for a set period to raise awareness and vital funds for life-saving research. You’ll play a key role in co-ordinating the campaign and bringing people together to deliver a powerful event.

Why we need you:

Every step we make towards beating cancer relies on every pound, every hour and every person.

Thanks to the generosity of our volunteers and supporters, Cancer Research UK funds over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses across the UK. If you’re looking to get involved with something new, and have fun while making a difference, then the Turn Chelmsford Pink campaign could be for you.

What You’ll Do:

  • Co-ordinate the planning and delivery of the Turn Chelmsford Pink campaign
  • Engage local businesses, schools, and community groups to take part
  • Support the delivery of fundraising activities and pink-themed events in Chelmsford
  • Promote the campaign through local social and media channels
  • Inspire others to get involved and make a difference
  • We have a range of suggested roles available for the campaign, such as Community Engagement Co-ordinator, Sponsorship and Partnerships Co-ordinator and Digital Content Creator; or you might prefer to help out ad-hoc.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Great communication and organisational skills
  • Enthusiasm for community engagement and fundraising
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for supporting Cancer Research UK’s mission

What you can expect from Cancer Research UK

  • An induction and ongoing support and guidance from your Relationship Manager as well as support from our local fundraising group of volunteers in Chelmsford
  • Advice on how to set up and promote a variety of fundraising events
  • Opportunities to engage further with and hear more about the science we are funding
  • We will reimburse agreed out of pocket expenses

What benefits can you get from this role?

  • A chance to meet like-minded people who are working together to raise money for Cancer Research UK
  • Experience in event planning, marketing and community engagement
  • New connections in your community

At CRUK we value diversity and we're committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone is able to be themselves and to reach their full potential. We will consider making any reasonable adjustments to support volunteer applications from people with a disability or health condition. We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and cultures and believe that volunteers from diverse backgrounds will help us to beat cancer.

Where will this role be based?

This is a home-based role in Chelmsford or surrounding areas.  However, the nature of this role will require some time out and about in the community, promoting the campaign and building local relationships.

How much time do you need to commit?

As this is a flexible volunteering opportunity that can fit around your schedule.  Some tasks may require occasional meetings or event attendance.  Your Relationship Manager will be able to advise on commitment based on your circumstances and availability.  Every volunteer is a valued supporter to Cancer Research UK.  You might take on a specific role or you might be happy just helping out ad-hoc.
