Recruitment Beats Cancer – Scotland

Peter is one of the founders of Recruitment Beats Cancer Scotland, and a non-Executive Director of Gillespie People Solutions and a highly experienced Digital, Advertising and Recruitment professional working at senior levels with businesses including Classic FM Newsquest Herald & Times, Search Consultancy, Communicorp and now Space Aye. After Peter and Hazel's oldest son Harrison was diagnosed with a Sarcoma cancer in 2022 at age 13, and successfully completed treatment in late 2023, Peter and his wife Hazel have taken part in various fundraising activities for Cancer Research before founding Recruitment Beats Cancer Scotland in 2025. The objective is clear, to stop any other families having to endure the nightmare scenario of watching your child battle against this horrible disease, by funding new research to ultimately find a cure for all childhood cancers.

Hazel is one of the founders of Recruitment Beats Cancer - Scotland, and the founder/Director of Gillespie People Solutions, Scotland's leading 'Recruitment to Recruitment' specialist consultancy. Hazel has gained over 30 years experience in the Scottish recruitment sector, previously working with Office Angels and Search Consultancy, before launching Gillespie People Solutions in 2011.

Jane has been the CEO of Stafffinders since 2006. Her journey with our family business started long before becoming CEO, as she served as Director of Operations for many years after earning a BA in Business Studies. She's a passionate advocate for family-owned businesses, actively involved with Family Business United, and have served as a past Director of my local Chamber of Commerce. Jane is also a trustee for the Bairdwatson Charitable Trust, which supports charities that help individuals from challenging backgrounds gain skills, experience, and employment.

Shannon is the Managing Director at MBN Solutions, a Data and AI recruitment business headquartered in Scotland. Shannon has worked in the Scottish recruitment industry for c.20 years and is super passionate about the people that make this industry so great. Shannon decided to get involved with Recruitment Beats Cancer Scotland for a few reasons. Shannon has been affected by cancer as her auntie is terminally ill but due to advancements in treatment she has been given a longer lease on life which is nothing short of a miracle.

Cameron MacGrain is the Regional Director of Scotland at Harvey Nash, a role in which he leads the companies Scottish operations. With over 15 years industry experience, Cameron has spent the last 12 years with Harvey Nash, building strong relationships with clients and candidates predicated on delivering a great service. Cameron was keen to join the Recruitment Beats Cancer Scotland board following a personal diagnosis of a head & neck cancer in 2023, as he's keen to help raise money and awareness for Cancer Research to help fund more research for all types of cancer.

Ciara is a Director at Odro, one of the UK's leading recruitment technology solutions providers and a leader in video interviewing solutions. With over 7 years experience in the recruitment sector, Ciara was keen to leverage this experience and network to help spread the Recruitment Beats Cancer Scotland message and help the recruitment industry make a positive contribution to funding research into new cures and treatments for childhood cancers.
