Blood Cancer UK is supporting researchers who are developing new studies focused on blood cancers in children and young people. They want to involve people with lived experience early on, to help make sure research plans reflect what really matters to families.
Taking part may include:
Joining informal online introductory sessions to meet researchers.
Hearing about proposed research projects.
Sharing views, priorities and questions.
Choosing whether and how to stay involved in future discussions.
Having an optional one-to-one chat if preferred.
They would love to hear from:
Parents or carers of children or young people who have had blood cancer.
Young adults who were diagnosed with blood cancer during childhood.
They welcome experiences of all types of blood cancer and are particularly keen to hear from people affected by acute myeloid leukaemia, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, or T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
By sharing real experiences, people can help researchers focus on the questions, outcomes and approaches that matter most to children, young people and their families.
Views shared will help researchers:
Shape research ideas and study plans.
Improve how studies are designed and explained.
Keep research grounded in lived experience as it develops.
Support is available throughout. Sessions are informal and welcoming, and people can choose the level of involvement that feels right for them. One-to-one conversations are available for anyone who would prefer to talk things through.
To find out more, arrange a chat, or express interest, people can contact the Research Involvement Lead at Blood Cancer UK, questions are welcome.
After getting in touch, they will share more details about upcoming sessions or arrange an individual conversation. From there, people can decide if and how they’d like to be involved.
