Lived Experience Advisory Forum

Use your experience of cancer to help shape Cancer Research UK's work.

A new name for our Cancer Insight Panels

Our Cancer Insight Panels are becoming the Lived Experience Advisory Forum. This isn't a new group, but the next step for the panels you already know.

Cancer Insight Panels have given people affected by cancer different ways to get involved, from online meetings to consultations. The Lived Experience Advisory Forum brings these together under one name.

The new name also better reflects what members do. They don't just provide insight: they bring their lived experience and expertise to help us make better decisions and reflect the needs of people affected by cancer.

More flexible ways to get involved

We know that health, caring responsibilities, work and other commitments can change. We want involvement to be flexible and fit around people's lives. Instead of joining a panel based mainly on one way of getting involved, members will now have more choice and flexibility.

Depending on the opportunity, their interests and availability, they might:

  • join online discussions or meetings

  • complete surveys and online consultations

  • review information, resources and communications

  • help shape campaigns and policies

  • give feedback on projects and new ideas

  • take part in workshops and other activities

Who can join?

The Lived Experience Advisory Forum is open to people who have experience of cancer themselves, or through supporting someone affected by it.

Eligibility

  • A member of our Involvement Network. If you are not already a member you can join here.

  • You must be 18 or over.

  • You must live in the UK.

Experience we're looking for

  • people living with cancer

  • people who have had cancer

  • family members and loved ones

  • bereaved family members

  • parents and carers of children or young people affected by cancer

  • adults who experienced cancer as a child or young person.

You don't need previous experience with Cancer Research UK or of taking part in a group like this to apply.

Children and young people's cancers

We particularly want the experiences of people affected by children's and young people's cancers to continue shaping our work.

People with these experiences can contribute to the wider work of the Lived Experience Advisory Forum, as well as opportunities focused specifically on children and young people's cancers.
