About Shine Night Walk Leicester
Raise crucial funds with every step from, Curve Theatre to Mini Statue of Liberty.
People of all abilities can take part.
The 10k walk will take between 1.5 to 3 hours to complete.
There are various start times throughout the evening. Refer to your email or pack for your confirmed start time.
When you sign up for Shine Night Walk you can select to fundraise for a type of cancer research that is closest to your heart.

"A friend asked if anyone would like to join her at Shine Night Walk Manchester I jumped at the chance. I have been treated for cancer twice so know how important Cancer Research UK is in helping those affected by cancer. We formed a team of six- our ages span every decade from 30 to 70. The night was well organised with plenty of stewards giving encouragement and making sure the route was clear. So many people out enjoying their Saturday night clapped and congratulated us as we walked past. This added to an already great atmosphere. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were pleased to have raised over £2,000 for such an important charity. We came away with a real buzz. I’d definitely recommend taking part"

What fundraising can do
1 in 2 people born in the UK after 1960 will get cancer in their lifetime*. Our research saves lives.
Over the last 40 years, Cancer Research UK's work has helped double breast cancer survival, we were a key player in the development of radiotherapy, and we played a role in developing 8 of the world’s top 10 cancer drugs.
Although we are proud of our achievements, there is still more to be done. The money you raise will help to bring us closer to our ambition of 3 in 4 people surviving their cancer for 10 years or more by 2034.
How fundraising helps Leicester
Cancer Research UK spent over £1 million in 2021/22 in Leicester.
Leicester is home to an Adult Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC). Our ECMCs are co-funded by us and the National Institute for Health Research in England to bring together lab scientists and cancer doctors to speed up the flow of ideas and new treatments from the lab to the clinic.
Research happening right now in Leicester includes:
- Exploring how cancer and heart disease interact.
- We’re measuring how cancer impacts people’s lives.
- We’re developing new ways to measure the impact of early diagnosis.
- We’re developing new ways to measure how early diagnosis of cancer can improve survival.

There is one small section of cobbled street in the last section of the course. This can be avoided if required and course marshals will be happy to assist you.

Please bring your own reusable water bottle filled. We have removed our single-use plastic bottles of water at the finish and pit stop stations and instead are providing water re-fill stations for you to top up and stay hydrated!
Shine Leicester Travel
'The Venue' is next to the river by Castle Gardens.
Car - Due to the city centre location of the event, we are unable to provide onsite parking. We advise using one of the many City Centre car parks. The closest car park is NCP St Nicholas Circle.
The nearest electric charging points to The Venue are at Tesco Superstore but there are many more around the city at the various car parks.
Bus - Buses run frequently into the City Centre please visit www.leicester.gov.uk for information on travelling by bus.
Cycling - There are bike racks at The Venue@DMU as well as various locations around the city.
Train - The nearest train station is Leicester Station, which is a 12 minute walk to the venue. Please visit www.travelineeastmidlands.co.uk for further information.
