About Shine Night Walk Leeds
Raise crucial funds with every step from, Leeds Dock to the Victoria Quarter.
People of all abilities can take part.
The 10k walk will take between 1.5 to 3 hours to complete.
When you sign up for Shine Night Walk you can select to fundraise for a type of cancer research that is closest to your heart.

Starting and finishing at Millennium Square, the route will take you down past the Royal Armouries, over Knight's Way Bridge and past Leeds Corn Exchange.

"A friend asked if anyone would like to join her at Shine Night Walk Manchester I jumped at the chance. I have been treated for cancer twice so know how important Cancer Research UK is in helping those affected by cancer. We formed a team of six- our ages span every decade from 30 to 70. The night was well organised with plenty of stewards giving encouragement and making sure the route was clear. So many people out enjoying their Saturday night clapped and congratulated us as we walked past. This added to an already great atmosphere. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were pleased to have raised over £2,000 for such an important charity. We came away with a real buzz. I’d definitely recommend taking part"

1 in 2 people born in the UK after 1960 will get cancer in their lifetime*. Our research saves lives.
Over the last 40 years, Cancer Research UK's work has helped double breast cancer survival, we were a key player in the development of radiotherapy, and we played a role in developing 8 of the world’s top 10 cancer drugs.
Although we are proud of our achievements, there is still more to be done. The money you raise will help to bring us closer to our ambition of 3 in 4 people surviving their cancer for 10 years or more by 2034.
How fundraising helps Leeds
Many of our researchers in the region are based at the University of Leeds, where their work focuses on a range of cancer types including bowel, blood and skin cancers. They also have expertise in the fields of immunotherapy and radiotherapy.
Cancer Research UK spent over £4 million in Leeds in 2021/22
Research happening right now in Leeds includes:
- Studying gut bacteria to beat bowel cancer.
- We’re uncovering the biology of blood cancers to find new treatments.
- Personalising treatment for patients with anal cancer.
- Improving treatment for people with blood cancer.
- We’re making radiotherapy more effective.
