How your fundraising helps

Together we've come so far. Our streamers have raised over £1 million since 2020!

It’s only thanks to your generosity that we’ve helped double cancer survival in the UK in just 50 years. This is what your donations can do:

A photo of a lab timer.

£20

could buy a lab timer to keep our scientists on track as they find out what makes cancer cells tick.

Inside of a centrifuge.

£500

could buy a mini centrifuge, which is used to spin blood samples until different types of blood cells separate. Our scientists can then study the different types of cells to find out more about them.

£6,000

can fund a research group at the the Francis Crick Institute for a day.

Our top tips

Age-appropriate content

We’re so grateful for your support. If you're planning to stream or share content, please make sure it’s suitable for your audience. Avoid broadcasting anything that includes extreme violence, sexual content, abusive or offensive behaviour or language. If you're playing or sharing a game rated 18+, please clearly label your stream so viewers know what to expect.

Protect your personal information

Your privacy is important. Avoid sharing personal details like your home address, phone number, or financial information during your stream or in your content. If you're using a fundraising platform, make sure it's secure and trusted.

Your wellbeing matters

Fundraising online can be exciting and rewarding, but it’s important to look after yourself too.

  • Take regular breaks to rest, hydrate, and recharge — and consider your overall screen time, especially during longer sessions.

  • If you're gaming or hosting an event, make sure you and your moderators know how to hide, remove or report harmful, illegal or offensive content. Both Twitch and YouTube have helpful guides for moderators.

  • If you see something concerning, report it directly to the platform — they have tools in place to help.

  • If you believe someone may be at risk of immediate harm or danger, call 999 immediately. Only spend what you can afford on games or in-app purchases. Staying in control helps keep things fun and safe.

  • Don’t hesitate to step away if things feel overwhelming. Your health and wellbeing come first.

Our values

At Cancer Research UK, we believe in kindness, respect and integrity. We ask all our fundraisers to reflect these values in everything they do.

By creating a safe and inclusive space online, you’re helping us build a community that supports life-saving research and inspires hope.
