Patient and public involvement (PPI) toolkit for researchers

Our PPI in Research Toolkit is your resource for learning about, planning, and carrying out involvement activities during your research.

The toolkit introduces why we feel PPI is important, and the value it can add to your research. It aims to take you through the common questions that you might have about patient and public involvement in research, and enable you to complete the PPI Plan that is required by some of our funding committees.

You will find resources for planning, conducting, and evaluating your involvement in research activities, as well as tips to help you communicate with people you involve. You can also find assistance from our Patient Involvement and Communications Team. Using the toolkit step by step will help you to make patient and public involvement in your research a valuable and meaningful activity.

We’re currently making improvements to the toolkit, to make it easier and simpler to use. If you would like access in the meantime, please email
