We're keen to partner with like-minded organisations from across the public, private and not for profit sectors to build long-term strategic partnerships that will help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
Enabling mutually beneficial research collaborations in areas of high strategic priority, as set out in our Research Strategy, our flexible approach allows us to engage in a wide range of partnership initiatives around the world, from large-scale co-funding of research projects and infrastructure to joint workshops and conferences.

What we offer partners
Access to an outstanding portfolio and facilities
A strategic partnership with us not only offers access to a research portfolio that covers all types of cancer, but also to an extensive network of people and infrastructure across the UK. Closely integrated with the UK's National Health Service and academic institutions, our facilities create an outstanding environment for research to make real impact.
An unrivalled network
We support research at over 90 institutions and we're increasingly partnering with organisations outside the UK. Our research is guided by committees of world-leading experts overseen by an Executive Board including our chief clinician, Professor Charles Swanton, and by a board of trustees chaired by Lord Simon Stevens.
A unique position and flexible approach
Our scale, network and independent position mean that we are uniquely placed to bring together partners from different countries, sectors and disciplines. We take a flexible approach, engaging in a range of partnering models from knowledge sharing and strategic alignment through to large-scale co-funding of research initiatives.
Our current partnerships

EPSRC multidisciplinary funding partnership
In collaboration with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), we have helped bridge the gap between cancer researchers and scientists from engineering and physical science disciplines. Together we have co-funded Cancer Imaging Centres and Programmes, Multidisciplinary Project Awards, and sandpit workshops in early detection.
Alliance for Cancer Early Detection (ACED)
We lead the International Alliance for Cancer Early Detection (ACED), a partnership between Cancer Research UK, the Canary Center at Stanford University, the University of Cambridge, the Knight Cancer Institute at OHSU, University College London and the University of Manchester, to tackle the biggest challenges in early detection.
Building European research networks
Joining forces with our fellow cancer research charities in Spain and Italy, the Fundación Científica de la Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (FC AECC) and the Fondazione AIRC per la Ricerca sul Cancro (AIRC), we're facilitating international research collaborations and network building through our Accelerator Award scheme.
Cancer Grand Challenges partnership with the Dutch Cancer Society
In collaboration with Dutch Cancer Society, we're co-funding the PRECISION Cancer Grand Challenges team, led by Dr Jelle Wesseling in the Netherlands. This large-scale study is seeking to prevent unnecessary breast cancer treatment through research into pre-cancerous cells within breast tissue.
