We might ask you for the following details, some are optional.

Your contact details (including postal address, telephone number, e-mail address and/or social media identity)
Date of birth
Gender
Emergency contact details
Equal Opportunities data including if you consider yourself to have a disability or any relevant medical conditions (optional)
Information about your criminal record if you have any unspent convictions
Reference contact details (name, organisation, email address, phone number)
Photos (taken at our events, or shared with us via social media or our Fundraising Platform)
CCTV footage (if you visit our shops or offices)
We will collect these details when you submit your details via an online webform when applying for volunteering positions with us, or in paper forms when applying for volunteering opportunities directly in one of our shops or on the day of an event. We also collect these details during the course of your volunteering with us as part of our obligations to keep data up to date and in the general ongoing process of the volunteering period with us. If you volunteer in a shop for Cancer Research UK, your images will be captured on CCTV if one is installed in the shop. This activity is governed by our Employee Monitoring Requirement which you can speak to a Shop Manager about if you would like further details.
We will use your personal data to process your application and assess your suitability for the volunteer role you have applied for. This includes any information you provide about criminal convictions and offences, which we process to help ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers, and members of the public, in line with our safeguarding obligations. Any relevant health or medical information you provide during your application or throughout your volunteer journey with Cancer Research UK will be used to make reasonable adjustments for candidates with disabilities and to safeguard your wellbeing while volunteering. We process this information under our legal obligations and to ensure your health and safety. It may also be used in the event of an accident. Equal opportunities data is collected for monitoring purposes and to help us make reasonable adjustments for candidates with disabilities. This information will not be used for any other purpose unless we have your explicit consent. Your personal data will be stored securely, either as paper files or electronically within Cancer Research UK’s secure systems. Access to your data will be restricted to authorised individuals only. We will retain your information in accordance with our standard retention policy and securely delete it once it is no longer required
