Leaving a gift in your will – privacy information

This page applies if you are thinking about leaving, or have left, a gift to Cancer Research UK in your will.

What we collect

If you are thinking of leaving us a gift in your will, the following details may be requested. You can choose whether to provide optional ones.

  • Your name

  • Your contact details (including postal address, telephone number, e-mail address and/or social media identity)

  • Your date of birth

  • Your gender

  • Information about the nature or value of your gift

How we collect it

We will either collect this information directly from you if you contact us directly, request a Gifts in Wills guide or, with your permission, your solicitor will share this information with us.

How we use it

Your details will be kept on our supporter database as a record of your relationship with us. We will continue to update those details as and when you get in touch or support the charity in other ways, for example, attend an event. We will use this information to tailor our communications with you, invite you to our events and assist in administering your gift when the time comes. If you do go ahead with leaving Cancer Research a Gift in Will, we may share those details with other organisations who are also receiving part of the gift.
