Cancer Research UK Strava challenge

We are aiming to have 20,000 amazing supporters take on a partner sports challenge for Cancer Research UK in 2024. If everyone hits their target, we could raise an overall total of around £10.7 million. These vital funds could pay for the Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute in Glasgow for 4 months, supporting research that can bring hope to millions of people, now and in the future.

Kelly was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2015 and treated with surgery and chemotherapy. She is currently having follow-ups every six months (scans and bloods) and is also taking part in the TracerX clinical trial for the next five years. 

“Since treatment ended I have been doing ok but just around Christmas time I developed some anxiety and was struggling with energy levels.  I think it suddenly all started to hit me. I don’t think I had really allowed myself to process what had happened and it began to catch up with me. I have since had some counselling which has enabled me to realise that it is perfectly normal to feel this way. It has been very helpful and I feel much better about things now.”

Since treatment, Kelly has gone on to complete a Race for Life 10k and the 2023 London Marathon.
