Shine York Travel
The start and event site is located in Rowntree Park by the children's play area, near the Rowntree Park pay and display Car Park.
Please be aware that there on a number of ongoing works in York as part of the Flood Defense Scheme, and access to Rowntree Park via Terry Avenue is currently closed. For the event, please enter Rowntree Park via Butcher Terrace, Lovell Street, or Millennium Bridge.
From Nunnery Lane Car Park:
Exit left out of the Car Park to head down Nunnery Lane. Where the road forks, turn left along the A1036 until you reach the next road junction. Here, use the pedestrian crossing to cross over onto Clementhorpe (by The Swan pub). At the bottom of Clementhorpe turn right and continue along Terry Avenue. Follow this road until you reach Rowntree Park Car Park on the right-hand side.
All of the car parks below are approximately a 15-minute walk to Rowntree Park so please plan your journey time accordingly.
From St George's Field:
Exit St George's Field Car Park at the main entrance and turn left to head over Skeldergate Bridge. At the edge of the bridge, take the immediate left-hand turn back down towards the riverfront on the opposite side (Terry Avenue). Follow this road all the way down until you reach Rowntree Park Car Park on the right-hand side.
From Castle Car Park:
Exit the car park passing Clifford's Tower and turn left along Tower Street. At the pedestrian crossing cross over by Tower Gardens, then turn right over Skeldergate Bridge. At the edge of the bridge, take the immediate left-hand turn back down towards the riverfront on the opposite side (Terry Avenue). Follow this road all the way down until you reach Rowntree Park Car Park on the right-hand side.
Bus – Buses run frequently from the city centre to Bishopthorpe Road then follow signs down Butcher Terrace to the Millennium Bridge. For up-to-date information about local bus routes see the iTravel York website.
Train – The nearest train station is York Station, which is approximately a 15-20 walk to Rowntree Park
