Patient involvement at the Centre for Drug Development

We’re committed to actively involving people affected by cancer in our mission to deliver more treatment options to people with cancer.

Collaborating with patients and bringing their voice into our work helps ensure that our clinical trials are better suited for patients and more patients will be encouraged to participate.

Our Centre for Drug Development patient panel is currently full but we welcome enquiries for future involvement.

Meet our panel members

We work with a dedicated panel of patient representatives from diverse backgrounds who provide input across our clinical trials and other initiatives. We seek this critical input throughout the lifecycle of our trials from the planning stage through to the publication of lay summaries of trial results.

Trialmap: A tailored app for patients on our clinical trials

We collaborated with Stitch and the Cancer Research UK Patient Involvement Network to create Trialmap. We’re currently piloting Trialmap on three of our clinical trials. This collaboration creates a unique opportunity for patients to manage their own trial journey.

Patients can use Trialmap to :

  • view information about the trial

  • contact our nurses for support

  • get reminders about appointments

  • feedback their experiences

We apply the insights gathered by Trialmap to give our patients the best possible experience by designing clinical trials around them.

DETERMINE trial videos

To explain our DETERMINE trial in a more accessible way, we collaborated with people affected by cancer to develop a set of animations for adults and children.

We gained insights from focus groups and our DETERMINE patient representatives, highlighting the need to create animations. They also supported with content creation, the language used and our voiceover selection.
