Cervical cancer

Advanced cervical cancer

Advanced cervical cancer means that a cancer that began in the cervix (the neck of the womb) has spread to another part of the body. Or it may mean the cancer has come back after treatment.

What is advanced cervical cancer?

Advanced cervical cancer means the cancer has spread from the cervix to another area of the body.

Symptoms of advanced cancer

The most common places for cervical cancer to spread is the lymph nodes, liver, lungs and bones. Symptoms can include tiredness, pain and vomiting.

Treatment for cervical cancer

Your treatment depends on several factors. These include what type of cervical cancer you have, how big it is, whether it has spread (the stage) and the grade. It also depends on your general health.

Living with cervical cancer

There is support available during and after treatment to help you cope. This includes support from your clinical nurse specialist, cancer charities, community services, and family and friends.
