Fundraising groups are a great way to team together to power progress. A fundraising group is a team of volunteers who work together in their local community, workplace, or online to raise money and awareness to help fund life-saving research. These groups organise activities such as coffee mornings, quiz nights, raffles, challenge events, community fairs, and other fundraising initiatives.
You don’t need specific skills to be a group member or to start a group, a simple passion for supporting people affected by cancer is all it takes to belong.
By joining a fundraising group, you’ll:
raise both awareness and money to help fund life-saving cancer research.
develop new skills in things like event management, logistics and organisation at the same time.
get full support to help make your fundraising plans a success and help you turn your ideas into reality.
Fundraising groups play such an important and valuable role. With you by our side, we'll keep funding research, raising awareness and developing policies that could save more lives in the years to come.
There are more than 300 fundraising groups across the UK.
Together, they've raised over £9 million in the last two years to help fund life-saving cancer research.

Some of our existing groups can be contacted directly. Find out if there’s one near you. There are hundreds more groups in existence, so please get in touch if you don’t find one near you.

A close group of friends formed the South Wales Cancer Crusaders in 2019 after many of their family and friends had experienced cancer and its impact. The group members – 25 young men – take on tough physical challenges every year – these have included a 100km walk in 24 hours, the Three Peaks Challenge, a 128-mile cycle, an 85-mile canoe and their challenge of climbing Ten Y Fan.
The group is extremely passionate about fundraising – they also have lots of other commitments such as working full time and taking care of young children. They manage activity around their busy schedules and do things that allow them the freedom to make decisions that work well for them and for the charity. They do all the planning, organisation and promotion for their activity themselves, with the benefit of having the full support of their local Cancer Research UK Relationship Manager.
Take a look at what the group is currently getting up to.
