Getting diagnosed with pancreatic cancer

You should see your doctor if you notice a change that isn't normal for you. Or if you have any of the possible signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer.

Your GP should arrange for you to see a specialist or have tests if you have symptoms that could be due to pancreatic cancer. Find out more about being referred.

There is no national screening programme for pancreatic cancer. But you may be able to have tests if you are at a high risk of developing it.

Your GP or specialist might arrange for you to have tests. Find out about the tests you might have to diagnose and stage pancreatic cancer, including blood tests, a biopsy, and scans such as a CT scan or MRI scan.
