Tests to stage

You may have one or more of these tests if you have been diagnosed with kidney cancer. They can tell your doctor the stage of the cancer. The stage of a cancer tells you how big it is and whether it has spread.

Chest x-ray

You might have a chest x-ray to check your general health. This is to make sure you are well enough to have a particular treatment.

CT scan

A CT scan can show the size of your cancer, and whereabouts it is. Find out about having your scan.
