Population Research Committee

The Population Research Committee (PRC) is responsible for the oversight, development, review, funding and management of a portfolio of awards for research Programmes and Project Grants in population science.

The Population Research Committee considers applications in the following areas:

  • Clinical and public health epidemiology (excluding primary and secondary prevention studies involving medical interventions, e.g. vaccines and chemoprevention)
  • Educational and behavioural research in areas of prevention, screening and early diagnosis
  • Proposals considering clinical trials methodologies or statistics
  • Proposals considering secondary effects of treatment

Applications are judged on the basis of scientific excellence, innovation and relevance to cancer research. The Committee meets twice a year and assesses all applications on the basis of their scientific and strategic importance, whilst also studying the expert peer review which is collated for each grant.
