Tests to diagnose

You have a colposcopy if you've had an abnormal result from your cervical screening test, or you have symptoms that could be caused by cervical cancer.

Some women might have a cone biopsy as a treatment for abnormal cervical cells, or to help diagnose cervical cancer.

A colposcopy is a test to have a closer look at your cervix. The doctor or specialist nurse takes samples of any abnormal areas.

Cone biopsy

A cone biopsy is a small operation to remove a cone shaped piece of tissue from your cervix.
