Worried about diagnosis - inflamed cervix and many symptoms

I'm 25 years old and am really worried about my upcoming gynaecology appt. It started when I was having some discomfort and bleeding during sex. I went to my GP and she said I had an inflamed cervix and referred me for the urgent 2 week programme. On the same day as they told me I had an inflamed cervix I had sex that evening but didn't have any bleeding or discomfort. I have now started getting some pelvic pains that also goes down both sides. I'm also having some really mild brown discharge which I'm very worried about as well!

Does anyone have any advice or similar symptoms?

  • Hi Braitele and welcome to the forum.

  • Hi

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems :( what symptoms you having?

turned out all my symptoms were caused by an inflamed polyp on my cervix which was fine and had it removed. But my gp frightened the live out of me :( x

  • Hey,

so I have pain during and after sex, pain in my pelvis and really heavy periods. This has been going on for some time and three years ago had a coloscospy and all was done. Just had my smear 2 weeks ago

and the nurse sat me down and s said my cervix is very inflamed and if there's a family history, which there is. I just hate the waiting so wanted to know what happened with those who had also been told their cervix is inflamed.

    xx

  • Yeah I had same symptoms and got myself in a right state worrying. Turned out my gp was very worried, but when I got to see the gynaecologist he wasn't worried at all. Said I had a large polyp which was inflamed and possibly infected. So removed it. I'm still having bleeding/discharge 2 weeks after having it removed. But don't think it helped I started my period a week after having it done, as think it's an awkward please to heal?
    when's your appointment? X

  • She said not to book an appointment yet, she said wait for the results of the smear and if comes back clear then make an appointment for further investigation . This worried me more thinking does she suspect something will come back, why wouldn't she just let me make the appointment then if I'm going to have to If results are clear . Just how long do you have to wait for smear results?
So happy that you had a more positive outcome

    xx

  • I didn't have a smear coz I wasn't due one. I went to doctors said of heavy periods, bleeding and pain after sex and she took one look at my cervix and said I'll refer you for an urgent colposcopy! So then I had a two week wait for my app and got myself in a right state!! Then the doctor during my colposcopy said he wasn't worried (still waiting on results) but said majority of polyps are nothing to worry about.

i did have an abnormal smear years ago though, and had severe Pre cancerous cells removed and it was absolutely fine. Are you up to date on your smears? X
