My brother and oesophagus cancer

My brother is 42 years old suffering from oesophagus cancer diagnosised a year ago he is currently on stage 4 , looking for cure and looking into surgery options here in UK or abroad, he is feeding through a NG tube and nil by mouth as the tumour has grown bigger and not on any medication, chemotherapy was stoped 3 month ago because the doctors said it was affective , at this point I'm looking for any kind of help to cure him from this cancer , he is too young to die . Please if anyone has any information that can help him I will be very grateful.

  • Hello Tingatinga,

I am so sorry to hear your brother is suffering from stage 4 oesophageal cancer and is nil by mouth and feeding through a NG tube - it must be so difficult for him at the moment and for those around him who want to support him. We have some information on our website on treatment for advanced oesophageal cancer which may be of interest to you. Your best source of information though in your brother's particular case would be his medical team so don't hesitate to reach out to them and ask questions. You can also consider asking for a second specialist opinion and you can find more information on this here

Should you wish to talk things through with our nurses, you are also welcome to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope you will hear from some of our members who have also supported a loved one with advanced cancer as it does help sometimes to talk to others who truly understand how you are feeling at the moment. We are all here for you anytime you need to chat.

    Best wishes,
