frightened but trying to stay hopeful

Hi

my mum was diagnosed with breat cancer 20 months ago, unfortunately we were told yesterday that she has developed a tumour in her brain.  She is going to have a MRI scan next week to see if there has been spread elsewhere. If not they are talking about surgery as a possibility as there is only one met.  Ive been scouring the net and it looks like ts unusual for it to go to brain first. I am trying to be hopeful but im so afraid too. I dont want too loose my mum and I hate seeing her so afraid.  Is there any advice you can give me in terms of what to ask drs over the following week.  Thank you, I do appreciate it, i know you are all also dealong with your own story xxxx

  • Hello gaynor,

I am sorry to hear your mum has developed a tumour in her brain. We have some information on our website about breast cancer that has spread to the brain. It also includes helpful advice on what to ask your doctor about living with secondary breast cancer which you can read here.

But as nothing replaces personal accounts, I hope you will also hear from others on this forum who have also had a similar diagnosis and they may well have some good tips for you based on their own experience as to what you could ask the doctor next week.

You are also welcome to give our nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and ask them for their suggestions on this.

    Best wishes,
