Hi all,
I found a lump top right side of right breast, referred to breast clinic on urgent appointment.
At my appointment I was sent straight for ultrasound, he said the mass looked cystic, I took this as great news and was instantly at ease.
Back upstairs to see the consultant who felt said lump and said, "hmmmm I think it's maybe benign but i want to get a biopsy"
No biggie, I've had this done previously (lumpy boobs) sent me back downstairs.
Last time I had this done it was fine needle straight into the lump and results after a small wait. This time.... he used the ultrasound to do a fine needle to which he withdrew a small amount of cloudy fluid followed by some fresh blood then nothing else came out after him trying for a short period longer. He looked at the screen then took out the needles for a core biopsy! I'm terrified at this point because I'm thinking it's just a cyst he will do the fine needle and all will be back to normal, totally regret not asking questions but I just wanted it to be over. Now I'm quite sore and the lump is still there. I thought maybe if it was a cyst the fine needle would have drained it so the lump would be gone.
Anyway, sorry for the story but what I wanted to know is, is it standard practice to do core biopsy on a cyst? Is it possible there's more to it? Driving myself crazy and have to wait until Friday for results.
