Hi I was diagnosed with bladder cancer Ta non muscle invasive last year November aged 53 started off pain lower back had all testes done, cystoscopy Turbt. I was informed that I had a large mass lower part of my bowel and several tumours all around my urologist said that he got all of them out. He has recommended that I have chemotherapy of Mitomycin but unfortunately that is in very short supply (due to brexit) he said and when it becomes available I would have a 6 week course.
In the meantime he has ordered my a bone scan ( no cancer) but did reveal several vertebrae with arthritis.
I went back to my doctors because I were having diarrhoea every day several months only stopped with pain killers for my back side affects and I didn’t say anything about it because I thought it would of been a symptom of the cancer unaware of blood in my urine, so my doctor sent me for another ultrasound this is 5 weeks after the TURBT, being a wagon driver my company asked for me to talk with a occupational therapist before I returned to work I did and I was told to be phased back to work by doing 50% of my hours over a month my company also wanted me to be signed off the sick and able and reasonably fit to drive, so I went back to my doctors and he refused asking me if I had the results of my latest scan, I said no he showed me the results and a email sent to the surgery stating that tumours have returned in my bladder and this needs further investigation.
My doctor wrote an email to my urologist telling him to fast track me for another TURBT which I am having next week Friday 14th it’s going to be a long painful week as I have a colonoscopy on the Tuesday same week get to the bottom of the diarrhoea ( sorry ) no pun intended.
I have had the time to look up the shortage of the chemotherapy drug Mitomycin C and I found a memo from a hospital in London saying that the drug was recalled and that the supply will be disrupted for at least 12 months and that there is 2 alternative drugs along with BCG which wasn’t offered to me hence my cancer returning so quickly.
Is anyone else having the same problem with not having the treatment of chemotherapy ? .
