I have recently been diagnosed with a rare cancer called a Non-Functional Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumour. To rid me of this unexpected package I am to undergo a Whipple Procedure on the 23rd October 2013. I am also hoping beyond hope that it has not spread any further.
An update March 2017 - I am in remission for the pancreatic cancer having had the Whipple Procedure (quite an interesting operation!) Unfortunately I have just been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and therefore i am shortly to undergo treatment for this. I feel like I'm visiting a theme park and I've just got off one roller coaster and am now boarding a second!
Update March 2019 - so my old friend as returned again. The Neuroendocrine Tumour that started in my pancreas and was successfully removed (we thought) has returned, moved house and brought friends. I now have tumours in my liver, lungs and Lymph nodes. Essentially this appears to be terminal although, with medication, may be slowed to allow me years rather than months. Onwards and upwards!
On a personal level, I am a 49 year old happily married man with 2 young children, Ethan 13 and Maya 8 (with whom all my worries rest, as they need their daddy)
