Hello,
I am Sally, my brother in Law was diagnosed with Stage 4, Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer in the summer of last year. He went through a fairly long cycle of chemo for us to be told he was in remission!
The doctors gave him the opportunity to continue with radiotherapy (which involved future cardiac arrest risk) or to continue on medication and given regular assessments of his condition.
He decided to go for the medication and regular assessments.
Unfortunately not long down the line, we were told it had come back, and it was pretty bad. He went through a 2 weeks intensive chemo, for us to be told it has not worked - at all! and the cancer has only got worse.
We are now waiting for a second attempt of a much stronger chemo he was supposed to start TODAY - BUT THERE ARE NO HOSPITAL BEDS. This is outrageous! It should be considered an emergency, and they refuse to transfer him to a different hospital because doctors/nurses who experienced with him are best to stick with...what is this nonsense?!
Surely a Doctor & Nurse are able to read records and maintain a watchful eye over a cancer patient?!
Has this happened to anyone before?! Any advice?! - We also have a stem cell donor match lined up for any future need.
