I am a very active 68 year old who jogs, swims, does yoga and walks the dog regularly so was shocked when a routine mammogram identified breast cancer.
I had a wire guided Wide Local Excision for left breast lobular cancer and sentinel lymph node biopsy on 20 December, and was discharged that evening. The first week went really well: discomfort, weakness and tiredness - but all v manageable over Christmas.
However, I suddenly developed fever, livid bruising, swelling and much more discomfort on Friday morning. The GP has given me antibiotics which have stopped the shivering, but I still feel pretty lousy ( some are the side effects of the Erythromycin by the looks of the guidance for taking them) .It's now virtually impossible to do exercises, and I wondered whether a cold compress on the wound would be advisable. Any thoughts, suggestions would be gratefully received! With so many positive thoughts to you all out there! Oxter
