I'm 50 years old this year. I am married and a mother to 2 boys. I have worked as a Registered Nurse for 28 years and over 25 years in Oncology and Palliative care. In 2012 I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer with lymph metastases. After extensive surgery and radio iodine treatments I am in remission and pray I am given the complete all clear in 2 years time. I have experienced every emotion under the sun since my diagnosis but talking to other people with cancer has helped me no end. Sometimes speaking to others is easier than family as you don't feel the need to constantly protect them. Cancer was a dreadful shock to say the least but my life is good. If I can be of any help via this forum to any one at all then I am happy to do it. What ever type of cancer we have and at whatever stage, we all know the anxiety and fear felt. X
