After suffering from lichen planus in my oesophagus since 1998 and enduring many dilatations over the years, I had biopsies in my orapharynx (top of food pipe) last July (2017) which showed high grade dysplasia (pre-cancerous cells). Gastroentorology asked ENT about treatment but they couldn't manage to use their rigid scope so was passed back to ENT who decided to do an EMR (endoscopic mucosal resection) which was done January 2018. A tumour was discovered in the area and removed and proved to be squamous cell carcinoma. I'm now awaiting a CT scan and will be passed to Oncology for further treatment, maybe radiotherapy. This is where I now am.
