Worried sick

Hi I'm worrying myself to the point when I constantly cry each day. I've had pain in my right side and back since March. It hurts mainly when I bend over or twist in bed. Its gradually getting worse. I've tried taking pain killers but nothing worked. I've been to my Gp who has performed and rectum examination and sent me for FIT test ect. All came back normal apart from having a fistula. Bowels are more frequent than normal. Used to be once every 2 days now once every day in the morning. Shes also sent me to see someone for a colonoscopy/scan. Been waiting 6 weeks now and have to wait again for another 4 weeks. I'm going out of my mind thinking its colon cancer. I've made an appointment for the GP on Thursday as I really cannot keep going in like this. Feel so down and worried.

  • Hello Archie45,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum and I am so sorry that you are feeling so worried. It must be really stressful having to wait all this time and I hope it won't be too long now before you get your scan. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these tests and important results.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. It's a good idea to speak to the GP on Thursday about how you feel and make sure you mention to your doctor how anxious you are feeling about this and I am sure they will be able to help.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
