Worried about cervical cancer symptoms

Hello,

I'll just jump right into it.

Yesterday I had some abnormal bleeding, only had my period about 2 weeks ago so know it isn't that. The day it happened I was getting pain in the right side of my pelvis. Nothing has happened since yesterday, but I'm concerned because at the end of last year I had some spotting too. I spoke to a doctor about who basically said it could be anything and to monitor it, felt a bit fobbed off really. Now I'm obviously concerned because this is the second time this has happened.

I know it's always a bad idea to google symptoms but I just wanted a rough idea of what it could be. Most things say spotting is usually harmless as it's due to birth control or related to pregnancy, but I don't take both control and know I am definitely not pregnant because I've never had sex. The only other options were things like STIs or some sort of cancer. Now I obviously again know I don't have any STIs for the obvious reason, so now I'm worried it is something more sinister like cancer.

I just wanted some advice or to hear if anyone else has been in the same situation I have? I'm really baffled as to what it could be and quite worried. Though spotting those two times and the slight pain in my hip yesterday have basically been my only symptoms.

It's the weekend so can't do anything about it currently so I'm going to try and call the doctor when they're open this week.

Can anyone give me some advice?

Thank you

  • Hello nyotauh,

It's difficult to know what is causing these symptoms, but you should tell your doctor about your concerns when you call them next week. When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

    I hope this is helpful,
