Worried about bowel cancer HELP PLS!

Good evening.

I suffer horribly with anxiety and take note of every symptom I get and automatically think cancer now my new fear has been bowel cancer, I'm 26, don't have any risk factors id say I'm pretty healthy and I've had no family history of cancer so it's quite rare I know but not impossible and I've heard it's on the rise in young adults

these are the symptoms ive managed to note down over the past few weeks:

Rashes that come and go on neck

Hives

Mucus in stool on couple occasions

Last week stomach pain followed by diarrhoea after eating McDonald’s and milkshake all relieved shortly after bout of diarrhoea

Mild Stomach discomfort for a short while after eating

Mushy stool

Twinges/Aches in legs and back

Undigested vegetables in stool

sinus issues

now I'm not saying everyone is related these are just the symptoms ive experienced in general it's the on/off mushy stool that scares me, I'd really like to think it's just IBS but after doing my research I've seen it's more likely to be severe and all the time my symptoms come and go and I seen a article saying bowel cancer causes symptoms that come and go really scared right now so any advice welcome! Thank you

  • Hi there ...

Oh my, you sure are having a panicy attack about your health ... and I know this can be so hard to cope with ... your not alone, there are so many people that suffer like you ... I see you have posted many times under different headings ...

But no one can diagnose on here ... you need to see your G P  and tell him /her of all your symptoms and esp your health anxiety which is making life hard going ... please get some numbers and organisations that help with this ... hopefully our moderators or nurses will be able to give you that information ... I'm sure that your Dr can help with both ... Chrissie.....

  • Hi. I had similar symptoms to you back in 2019 when I was 23. I was certain I had bowel cancer but went for a colonoscopy and CT scan and nothing was found. I too had every symptom of bowel cancer including blood in my stools, in the toilet, very loose stools, bad stomach cramps, mucus, fatigue and weight loss. I was a wreck. For me, it was IBS. While it's not impossible, it's very rare for someone your age to have bowel cancer especially with no family history despite what you read on the internet. Please try and remain calm. I think your anxiety is causing you to overthink things (which I totally understand — I was writing loads of questions on here begging for help). But please sort our your anxiety. It really can cause havoc to your health.

Make an appointment with your GP and tell him/her you're concerned about your symptoms and would like to see a specialist. Your symptoms don't really sound like bowel cancer to me but i'm not a doctor. Just sounds like you have a slightly poor diet and allergies.
