Wondering

I had a lumpy area or thickening that I could feel on palpation on left breast about 2 years ago. Went to see specialist and had mammogram and biopsy. I got written report from breast specialist that all was OK but that for purposes of completion I go back to see them in 3 months. I never went back as I just thought nothing to worry about. Anyway lumpy area is still palpable and I am wondering  is it something I should flag 2 years on? I am due a mammogram in the not to distant future as part of a national screening programme for over 50s so should I hold out till then?

  • Hi there and thanks for posting here

I'm afraid no one here can say if this lumpy area on your breast is anything to worry about or not.

Even though everything was fine when this was checked out a couple of years ago, if it is still bothering you I suggest you speak with your GP.

If necessary they can refer you back to the breast unit for a reassessment. Whilst I read you may be called for breast screening soon, do bear in mind that all screening programmes are for people who are otherwise well without symptoms.  It really is best that people discuss any concerns with their doctor so it can be looked at sooner rather than later.

    All the best
