Who does good post mastectomy bras?

Hi,

I had my mastectomy on 25th May and currently have got M&S post surgery bras which I'm finding very uncomfortable, does anyone have any suggestions for anything better?

thank you

  • Hello Kentishgirl

I hope that you're recovery from the surgery is going well and that you've had no problems. It's still quite early days and some degree of discomfort is, unfortunately, to be expected.

You don't mention in your post if you've had reconstruction or remained flat post-surgery. If you've not had reconstruction have you had a prosthesis fitting yet? I know that we've lots of ladies here who have had this surgery and I hope that some of them will post to share their replies with you soon.

There's some information here on the Breast Cancer Now website which may be of help along with a list of retailers. I also know from other posts that I've read previously that Asda stock some post-surgery bras which women have mentioned they've found comfortable.  I'd certainly recommend making an appointment and getting a fitting if you're able to. If you have a prosthesis take this with you and try it in the different bras to see how it feels.

I know that it can be really fit and miss at this stage of recovery in finding something that fits and is comfortable. If it's feasible then just wear a bra for a few hours at a time whilst you're still healing. this will allow you to get accustomed to things again.

I hope you get sorted soon!

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Honey

I had a lumpectomy. However, the breast clinic gave me a bra. It's front fastening and lovely. I googled the company and they do a range of post breast surgery bras ...

Anita.com  - Mine is the Isra  but if you search masectomy on there others come up too xxx
