When can you colour your hair after chemotherapy

I have been very lucky whilst undergoing treatment (Docetaxel chemo) for breast cancer having used the cold cap I have not lost my hair.  As such, I now have 2-3" regrowth which is grey.  I'm now 3 months post chemo and am considering getting my hair coloured to help me feel 'more like me' again.

Has anyone dyed their hair under the same scenario

Thanks so much for reading, stay safe and look forward to hearing from you.

  • Hello and thank you so much for posting

As you can see from the information in this link here it is best to wait 6 months before dying hair after chemo.

This is just to ensure you limit the damage the dye might do to your hair, and protect your scalp which may still be sensitive.

Hope this answers your question, but if you want to talk anything else through you can call our helpline on Freephone 0808 800 4040. The lines are open from 9 till 5, Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.

  • Hello Haziefantazie,

well done you for getting through the chemo, and l really understand the dfrive to get back on track. So you have another 13 week wait, but xmas is coming so why not treat yourself to a fashion wig,and test drive a new colour or style, certainly might help towards the "new you",

                                                                                            David

  • Thanks David,  I already have two wigs but my hair is too thick for them to sit right.  Appreciate your feedback.
